Burt Bacharach’s Best (My Music Presents)

In the 1960s, he established himself as a topical successor to his Tin Pan Alley predecessors, creating some of the most beloved and successful pop music to ever grace radio, television and film. This first-time ever archival PBS special includes all the original artists performing Bacharach’s hits with rare archival footage and clips from the 1960s-1970s.

Freddie Mercury: The Tribute Concert

On April 20, 1992, Roger Taylor, Brian May and John Deacon – the surviving members of Queen – took the stage of London’s legendary Wembley Stadium to announce the start of one of the biggest events in rock history: a tribute to the incomparable Freddie Mercury with a glittering array of guest vocalists and players, featuring Elton John, Robert Plant, Axl Rose, David Bowie, George Michael and many more. The atmosphere of emotion, mixed joy and sadness, shared by the stadium audience, worldwide television viewers, and performers alike, was an experience that will never be forgotten. The aim of the concert was to not only celebrate Freddie’s life and work, but also to increase public awareness of the awful disease which prematurely ended his life.

Legendary singer, songwriter and performer Elton John made a triumphant return to The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas with this spectacular and critically-acclaimed concert, “The Million Dollar Piano,” recorded at a sell-out show in February 2012. The centerpiece of the concert was the show’s namesake piano, an engineering marvel featuring more than 68 LED video screens. The state-of-the-art piano — nearly four years in the making — was the perfect accompaniment to Elton’s greatest hits, displaying fantastical imagery to complement the entertainer’s fan favorites. Elton and his band put on an unforgettable show, which included much-loved classic hits from throughout his career.

Beginning with their first collaboration on “Oklahoma!” in 1943, Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II revolutionized Broadway by integrating music and dance with well-crafted storylines to create a cohesive new form of musical theater. With a string of blockbusters including “Carousel,” “South Pacific,” “The King and I,” “Flower Drum Song” and “The Sound of Music,” the duo garnered 34 Tony Awards along with 15 Academy Awards for their film adaptations. This special features an all-star cast at London’s Theatre Royal Drury Lane, including Michael Ball, Daniel Dae Kim, Maria Friedman, Audra McDonald, Julian Ovenden, Aaron Tveit, Marisha Wallace, and Patrick Wilson, with additional surprise appearances by Rita Moreno and Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Simon & Garfunkel: The Concert in Central Park

On September 19, 1981, Simon & Garfunkel held a free public concert on Central Park’s Great Lawn in New York City, raising money to restore to the world’s most famous urban park. The duo had rarely performed since their breakup in 1970, but their music continued to resonate with the city from which they came. The Concert In Central Park was Simon & Garfunkel’s biggest gift to their hometown: more than 500,000 people were in attendance, one of the largest concert audiences of all time.
